SEAS launching Environmental Film series for spring semester

The School of Environment, Arts and Society (SEAS) in the College of Arts & Sciences is inaugurating its first Environmental Film Series from January to April during of the spring 2012 semester. The film series will feature a total of four documentaries, each with a theme closely related to the school. The film screenings will be followed by brief talks and a question and answer session with FIU faculty that are experts in their field.

FIU's Nature Preserve

FIU has a great educational resource at MMC; the FIU Nature Preserve. It is an 11-acre habitat mimicking natural South Florida landscapes. Hundreds of students help out each semester, some for class credit, and some because they just want to. If you are able to give a couple hours, we need volunteers to help remove exotic and invasive plants, clear trails, plant native plants, and put up educational signage. Service days are set up every week and are open to everyone! You will learn about the Nature Preserve and the plants and animals living in it.
