FIU is Carnegie-designated as both a research university with high research activity and a community-engaged university. Our annual research expenditures are in excess of $100 million and our deep commitment to engagement have made FIU the go-to solutions center for issues ranging from local to global. FIU is worlds ahead in its local and global engagement, finding solutions to the most challenging problems of our time.

At FIU sustainability research means research is focused on a key principle of sustainability (such as social equity or environmental stewardship); addresses a sustainability challenge (such as climate change or poverty); or furthers our understanding of the interconnectedness of societal and environmental challenges. Sustainability research leads toward solutions that support economic prosperity, social well-being, and ecological health.

The Office of University Sustainability staff members compiled a listing Sustainability related research to be included in the 2016 AASHE STARS report. To search for current and past research visit the FIU Division of Research.
